Physical Activity
Exercise offers so many benefits at so many different levels. For young people regular exercise helps with attention and focus in class; among adults regular physical activity also helps with heart health and mental health and among older adults regular exercise helps with balance and longevity. The science tells us that small bursts of exercise are helpful – one doesn’t have to exercise for hours at a time for the health benefits. And all kinds of daily activities are considered physical activity: gardening, cleaning, dancing, as well as the usual things like walking, jogging, yoga, biking, swimming, etc. Contrary to what the beverage industry promotes, physical activity isn’t the answer to consuming sugary drinks; it is however critical to good physical and mental health.
