Our dynamic panel represents a spectrum of expertise from on the ground grass-roots organizing, to community and physician advocates, to equity champions and policy makers. We’ll take a look at the history of the current soda tax and lessons learned.

  • Senator Scott Weiner – Former Board of Supervisor and one of SF’s key policy champions for the soda tax
  • Roberto Vargas -Former Soda Tax Advisory Committee Co-chair and long-time equity champion who was vital to bridge the science with community, 
  • Dr. John Maa – Physician advocate and former Soda Tax Advisory Committee member 
  • Vanessa Bohm – Former Soda Tax Advisory Committee member and long-time community and health equity advocate
  • Lolis Ramirez – Grassroots organizer for local soda taxes
